Doll Lab Ep. 40: MD Zuri Sex Doll Review — Is Extreme Softness Worth the Extra Weight?
At Doll Lab, our goal is not simply to review products, but to document how materials, engineering, and user experience evolve over time.
Episode 40 marks a return to a familiar brand — MD — following our previous review. After the last episode, the MD team reached out to us directly and provided two updated models for further evaluation: one full-size doll and one torso.
For this episode, we focus exclusively on the full-body model, Zuri, which MD describes as being built with their latest material formula, developed specifically to improve softness and tactile realism.
According to the manufacturer, several design adjustments and material changes were made based directly on feedback from our previous review. Rather than requesting a theoretical assessment, the MD team asked for a hands-on re-evaluation, allowing us to determine whether those changes are truly perceptible in real-world use.
This review documents those findings.
Height & Weight
Model: MD Zuri
Height: 162 cm (5 ft 4 in)
Weight: approximately 40.5 kg (89 lbs)
For a doll of this height, the weight is slightly higher than average. However, this increase is intentional and directly related to the material strategy MD has adopted for this model.
During handling, it becomes immediately apparent that weight reduction was not prioritized over tactile realism. Instead, MD chose to retain more internal mass in order to support a softer, denser, and more elastic external feel.
For users who prioritize softness over absolute portability, this trade-off may be reasonable.
Softness & Material Performance
Hyper-Elastic Silicone & Biomimetic Skin System
Zuri’s defining feature is her softness, which differs fundamentally from standard silicone or gel-filled designs.
MD uses what they describe as an exclusive hyper-elastic silicone, combined with an internally developed biomimetic skin system. This system relies on a multi-layer internal structure designed to mimic how muscle and fat distribute beneath human skin.
In practice, this results in:
High elasticity with rapid rebound
Dense, supported compression rather than hollow collapse
Uniform softness across large surface areas
When pressure is applied to areas such as the abdomen, thighs, hips, or buttocks, the material responds with a wave-like motion rather than localized indentation. This behavior closely resembles the way human tissue shifts under touch.
Notably, the internal lightweight foam layer is not detectable by hand, which is often a weak point in ultra-light designs. Instead, the sensation is consistently flesh-like throughout.
Hips & Buttocks
The hips and buttocks deserve special mention. Compared to dolls that rely heavily on gel inserts, Zuri’s structure feels thicker, fuller, and better supported. The material compresses evenly and rebounds smoothly, creating a balanced sensation that is both soft and substantial.
This is one of the most convincing executions of softness we have encountered in a full-body silicone doll.
Facial Design & Makeup
Brows, Lashes & Expression
Zuri features implanted eyebrows and eyelashes, a clear improvement over earlier MD models where these elements were painted. This change significantly enhances realism, particularly under natural lighting.
The facial structure is soft and approachable, highlighted by a rounded button-style nose. The ROS mouth design offers impressive internal softness, with subtle texturing at the base of the oral cavity that improves realism without compromising durability.
In addition, the face supports subtle expressions due to movable brow structures. While understated, this feature adds life and variability to facial presentation.
Overall, the face represents a meaningful refinement compared to previous MD releases.
Body Makeup & Surface Detail
Zuri’s skin texture is intentionally subtle. Surface detailing is present but restrained, avoiding exaggerated pores or heavy artificial texturing.
The chest area is particularly well executed:
Clearly visible veins
Fine capillary detailing
Natural skin pigmentation
The nipples and areolas display a slightly purplish-red tone, consistent with realistic coloration.
Hands & Feet
Due to the softness of the main silicone body, both hands and feet are designed as hard structures.
The transition line at the wrists and ankles is visible
Fingertips use a very thin silicone layer, offering softness but requiring careful handling
Feet include toe bones and basic vein detailing
While detailing is relatively simple, these design choices favor durability and usability given the softness of the surrounding material.
Joint Mobility & Handling
Joint resistance across the body is moderately firm.
Wrists, forearms, and thighs feel stiff initially
Waist joint is notably tight and requires deliberate positioning
All joints remain suitable for everyday posing
Because of the high softness and elasticity of the silicone, oiliness is a natural byproduct of the material formulation. This is expected and manageable.
Maintenance tip: Regular use of baby powder is recommended to maintain surface comfort and reduce tackiness.
Intimate Design
Externally, the intimate area is visually minimal, with limited surface detailing.
Internally, however, the design is more structured. The channel incorporates an additional inner layer, creating a tighter and more compact internal profile. This design provides a secure, enveloping sensation when combined with the soft material.
The anal channel also features internal texturing, delivering an evenly distributed, wrapped feel upon contact.
